Festival of Light, Huddersfield

I had a great time at The Festival of Light in Huddersfield this weekend. It was great to see the Town Centre so lively and lit up with beautiful displays. The performances and bands were fantastic, creating a very welcoming and vibrant atmosphere. What a great weekend!! Here are some images I took in St Peter's Gardens:

LBT Sketchbook

Now my Residency is underway at the LBT I have begun to fill my sketchbook with examples of work produced over the year. The sketchbook will present a mixture of photographic work alongside hand drawn images inspired by the photographs. So far I have added images of my montage and composite iphoneography pieces capturing scenes throughout Huddersfield and Todmorden, along with a DSLR montage image of hidden scenes found behind the walls of the Lawrence Batley Theatre. This work is leading up to the production of an animated film based within the LBT which I am due to begin in the New Year...very exciting!!!

LBT Montage

I have just completed my first montage piece as part of my residency at The Lawrence Batley Theatre. It is a montage of images I captured during my recent tour of the hidden depths of the Theatre. I am using this as a starting point for further montage pieces based around the Theatre, along with a series of pen and ink drawings.

From The Balcony - LBT

I have captured some interesting images this week whilst working on the balcony at The Lawrence Batley Theatre. The changing light throughout the day casts some beautiful shadows across the walls and ceilings and it has inspired me to capture it through drawing and iphoneography. Here are a few images from this week...

Exhibiting at The Water Street Gallery

The Smalls Works and "...just in case" exhibitions have now begun at The Water Street Gallery, Todmorden. I thoroughly enjoyed the Private View last week which saw the Gallery full to the brim with visitors. There is an eclectic mix of inspiring work throughout the Gallery - a fantastic exhibition. The exhibition is on until the beginning of January so there is plenty of time to take a visit! Here are a few images I took on the Opening Night to capture my work in exhibition.

Art in Arran

I have been very fortunate this year to take a second trip to the beautiful Isle of Arran, Scotland. I spent the week exploring the Island through photography, timelapse filming and sketching. I am currently working on a series of photographic montage prints and original ink works inspired by my trip. I indulged in iPhoneography for much of the week. Here are a few of my favourite images...many more to come!

Barnsley Sporting Heroes

I have recently been asked by Paul Slater to work with him on the "Barnsley Sporting Heroes" Project. So far I have documented creative workshops through photography and recorded sound on film shoots. The project is building up to the production of a creative documentary short that will be exhibited in the new " Experience Barnsley" Museum which will open next year. Here are a selection of images....more to come as the project progresses!

Images for Adobe Article

Adobe has recently published an article featuring the work of Paul Slater aka Fabric Lenny, a local artist who makes distinctive paintings, prints, drawings, illustrations and objects. This has the potential to raise Fabric Lenny's profile, and possibly mine as I produced all the images featured in the article. Follow this link to read the article - Adobe Success Story - Fabric Lenny plus here are some more images I took for Fabric Lenny to choose from for his article...
